Quantum Information Theory

Quantum Information is a multidisciplinary and growing scientific arena where quantum physics meets
fields as diverse as mathematical statistics, cryptography, computer science, and nana-technology,
among others. Information is physical (Landauer, 1962), and therefore it can be stored and processed
by quantum systems, which follow the rules of Quantum Mechanics. There is a plethora of new possibilities
beyond the classical world and many puzzling and counterintuitive effects. Quantum Information Theory is
the theoretical body that extends classical information theory into this new framework.
Recent advances in experimental techniques, which have enabled us to study elementary systems such as
single atoms trapped in cavities, individual photons, etc, have been offering an extraordinary scenario for
testing many predictions of quantum mechanics that had remained unchecked since the thirties. Most of the related
theoretical work has been receiving renewed interest.

La teoría de la información cuántica es un campo multidisciplinar cada vez más extenso donde la física se encuentra
con la informática y la nano-tecnología. La información es física, y por lo tanto se puede almacenar y procesar por
sistemas cuánticos que siguen las reglas de los Mecánica Cuántica. Hay una plétora de nuevas posibilidades más allá
de los sistemas clásicos y mucha confusión, debido a efectos que son contra-intuitivos, con los que los físicos llevan
trabajando desde hace décadas. La teoría de información cuántica es un cuerpo teórico que amplía la teoría de información
en este nuevo marco. La miniaturización continua de los dispositivos de computación llevará inevitablemente a los mismos
a un límite atómico, donde los fenómenos no se pueden explicar con las leyes clásicas sino cuánticas. Una buena comprensión
de este régimen es por lo tanto fundamental. Las posibilidades pueden representar una revolución en el campo de
la computación: la búsqueda de una "computadora cuántica", un concepto inventado por Richard Feynman en los años 60.
Los avances recientes en las técnicas experimentales, que permiten manipular sistemas elementales, tales como los formados
por un solo átomo atrapado cavidades, o fotones individuales, etc, ofrecen un panorama extraordinario para probar muchas
predicciones de la mecánica cuántica que nunca han sido verificadas, a pesar de haber sido introducidos ya en los años 30.

Keith Martin's "A New Sith, or Revenge of the Hope: Reconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III" is an essay that
convincingly argues that R2D2 is actually the secret leader of the Rebellion:

For the next 20 years, as far as 3PO knows, he is the property of Captain Antilles, doing protocol duties on a diplomatic transport.
He is vaguely aware of the existence of the princess but doesn't know much about her. Wherever 3PO goes, being as loud and obvious
as he always is, his unobtrusive little counterpart goes with him. 3PO is R2's front man. Wherever they land, R2 is passing messages
between rebel sympathisers and sizing up governments as potential rebel recruits - both by personal contact and by hacking into their networks.
He passes his recommendations on to Organa.
Yoda is out of the picture by this stage, using the Force-infused swamps of Dagobah to hide himself from Vader and the Emperor. Or something.
He is meditating on the future and keeping in touch with Obi-Wan via the ghost of Qui-Gon Jin, which as comm systems go
has the virtue of being untappable. Obi-Wan, on Tattoine, keeps in touch with Bail Organa and the other Rebel leaders by courier, of which more later.

As Star Wars opens, R2 is rushing the Death Star plans to the Rebellion. R2, not Leia. The plans are always in R2. What Leia puts into him
in the early scene is only her own holographic message to Kenobi. Leia's own mission, as she says in the holographic message, is to pick up
Obi-Wan and take him to Alderaan - or so she thinks. Actually, her father just wants her to meet Kenobi, which up to this point she never has.
There's a reason for that.

Obi-Wan has spent the last 20 years in the Tattoine desert, keeping watch over Luke Skywalker and trying to decide on one
of the three available options:
A) If Luke shows no significant access to the Force, then leave him alone in obscurity
B) If Luke shows real Force ability, then consider recruiting him as a Jedi. The rebellion needs Jedi. Now.
But, if Luke shows any signs of turning out like his father, then
C) sneak into his house one fine night and chop his head off. With great regret but it'll save a lot of trouble later on.
Knowing this to be the case, Bail Organa (perhaps at the insistence of his wife) has found excuses not to send Leia to Ben for
assessment of Jedi potential, largely for fear of option C.

Seit 1999 entwickelt sich, aus den USA kommend, eine neue Form des Online Publizierens. Es handelt sich dabei um dynamische, personalisier-te Internetseiten namens Weblogs (abgeleitet aus Logbuch des Internet), die bereits als nächste Revolution im Internet bezeichnet werden. Dabei gelangen die ursprünglichen Prinzipien des Internet zu neuen Ehren, geht es doch um verteilte, persönliche, User-getriebene Kommunikation mit Hilfe des World Wide Web.

Über einfache webbasierte Formulare werden Einträge im Weblog gepostet, Bilderalben können bequem verwaltet werden, das Layout kann über Templates frei bestimmt werden. Damit liefert die typische Weblog-software alle Funktionen eines klassischen Content Management Systems. Die Besonderheit liegt jedoch im Detail. Bestimmte Prinzipien und Instrumente machen die Kollaboration einfacher, tatsächlich ist der Aus-tausch von Informationen und der Aufbau eines sozialen Gefüges, der sogenannten Blogosphere, sogar einer der Hauptaspekte des bloggens.

Die Inhalte und die Herangehensweisen sind so unterschiedlich wie das tägliche Leben: von Musik, Politik, Recht bis hin zu Technik, Internet, Marketing, Medien oder Soziologie. Beinahe täglich befüllen die Autoren ihre Seiten, verarbeiten Informationen, stellen aktuelle Fragen über die in den Kommentaren diskutiert wird. Renommierte Softwarehersteller geben ihren Entwicklern längst Weblogs um mit der Community in Kontakt zu bleiben und bereits früh im Entwicklungsprozess auf die Bedürfnisse Rücksicht nehmen zu können. Gepostet werden meist kurze Texte, zwei oder drei Absätze, sogenannter Microcontent, der häufig mit Links durchsetzt ist.

Dabei sind folgende Prinzipien häufig in Weblogs zu beobachten:

Navigation:
durch den streng umgekehrt chronologischen Aufbau verwenden alle Weblogs eine einheitliche Navigation, die dem Benutzer nicht erst verständlich gemacht werden muss. Jeder Beitrag kann weiters Kategorien zugeordnet werden um eine individuelle Strukturierung zu ermöglichen.

Zeitstempel
jede Microcontent-Einheit ist mit einem eindeutigen Zeitstempel versehen, der meist auch als permanente Adresse (eine URL über die der Beitrag direkt angesprochen werden kann, der Permalink) verwendet wird. Damit können einzelne Gedanken (Memes) direkt addressiert und referenziert werden.

Persönlich
hinter jedem Weblog steht eine oder mehrere Personen, die ihre subjektiven Ansichten, ihren persönlichen Filter der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen. Einträge werden aus der Ich-Perspektive geschrieben und reflektieren immer die Person. Authentizität wird damit zum signifikanten Unterschied und auch zur größten Herausforderung.
Communitybasiert
kein Weblog steht für sich alleine, jedes ist Teil eines sozialen Gefüges. Vom simplen linken und verlinkt werden (vor allem in Form von Zitaten) bis hin zu einer Sammlung von Lieblingsweblogs (Blogroll), stehen verschiedene Bräuche zur Verfügung, die das soziale Umfeld darstellen. Dadurch bilden sich vollkommen automatisch Communities of Interest, die verstreut über ganz Europa und Amerika miteinander kommunizieren.

Vernetzt
neben der starken Community sind auch noch einige technologische Prinzipien zu erwähnen die eine Vernetzung der Personen, Inhalte und Gedanken sehr stark fördern. So wird standardmässig das XML-basierte RSS (RDF Site Summary) Format verwendet, welches die Beobachtung zahlreicher Weblogs über News Reader, aber auch automatisierte Content Syndication sehr einfach ermöglicht. Andere Technologien (wie zB Trackback) erlauben ebenfalls eine einfach Verknüpfung von Inhalten.
